Noah's Flood

A week or so ago I heard an obviously liberal politician say, “Show me someone who believes in Noah’s Ark and I’ll show you a Trump supporter.” Well, I confess I am guilty on both counts. However, I care not to write much about politics. You see, I have read the entire Bible. From the last book, the Book of the Revelation, I know how it is all going to come out. Yes, Jesus Christ wins. Satan and his minions are fighting a futile resistance.

Going back to the first point, why I believe in the world wide flood in Noah’s time. First of all, God said it and I believe it. Beyond that there is a plethora of geological, paleontological and archaeological evidence that supports this phenomenon.

There are some liberal skeptic theologians who will say that the flood was simply a local flood that only flooded Noah’s known world. Genesis 7:24 says the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days. If these theologians passed their fifth grade science class, they would know that water seeks its own level. Genesis 7:19 says all the high hills that were under the whole heaven were covered. Genesis 8:4 says the ark rested upon the mountains of Ararat. Some of the mountains in that range exceed 20 thousand feet by quite a bit. That means that water around the world would have to be at least that high. As far as Mount Everest or any other mountains higher than the Ararat Chain is concerned, either the water covered them also or they rose up a little later as a result of the cataclysmic conditions that accompanied the rain. Genesis 8:2 speaks of the fountains of the deep. Evidently the crust of the earth cracked and water from under the surface gushed up. We do know that even today there is much water under the surface. I live above the edge of the Ogallala Aquifer, a giant underground lake under northeastern Colorado, northwestern Kansas and southwestern Nebraska. This supplies irrigation for the thousands of acres of wheat, corn, and other crops.
