Evidence From Science:

We have all studied in our high school biology class how the sperm cell and the egg cell each split then unite to form a new cell. The mother's egg cell is feminine in each half represented in the textbook by the letter x. The father's sperm cell is feminine in one half and masculine in the other, reparented by the letters X and Y. It depends on the which half of his sperm cell unites with either half of her egg cell that determines the gender of the child. If his X half unites with her X, the child will be a girl (XX). If his Y half unites with either x half it will be a boy (XY).

Most of what we are as adults was determined at that point in time, a split second. The color of our eyes and hair, Lady Clairol notwithstanding. Our general physical structure is determined at that point. Even much of our mental and emotional make up begins at that point. It will be influenced by environmental impacts as it develops. In reality it is just a matter of the process of development form that point of conception in the womb. It continues to develop after birth as well.

Evidence From Scripture

Never is the term fetus or embryo used in the Bible. The term child is always used to refer to human offspring whether pre or post born. In Genesis 25: 22, it states "The children struggled together within her." referring to Jacob and Esau while still in Rebbecca's womb. In Jeremiah 1:5 , God said, " Before I formed thee in the belly i knew thee; and before thous comest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee..." Luke 1:39-45 gives the account of the virgin Mary after having conceived Jesus of the Holy Spirit, went to visit her cousin Elizabeth who was six months pregnant with her son, John The Baptist. When Mary entered and greeted her cousin, the babe, John the Baptist, in her womb leaped at the sound of her voice.

Every time the life story of any person the word begat or conceived is used. The father begat the sperm. The Mother conceives the seed form the father. The Geneology of Jesus in Matthew chapter one is an example. In the Bible life began when God formed man and woman in his own image. (Gen 1:26-27; 2:7, 18) In reality human life began at that point. From the until now and the future life is procreated. We were all in seed form in Adam. Only God has the right to terminate human life. He has granted that right to human government in the case of capital crimes, (Romans 13:1-4) We also have that un-alienable right to defend oneself guaranteed by our U.S. Constitution.

Conclusion:

So when the women's liberation movement cries out " Shouldn't a woman have the right to determine whether she wants to give birth or not" The answer is, absolutely. It is the timing of that determination that matters. She needs to decide before she engages in sexual intercourse with a man, not after. They say, "What about in case of rape?" First, we are taking about a very small percentage of pregnancies. I concur with Pat Buchanan, former candidate for president in the Republican primary, "If you want to kill someone in case of rape, kill the rapist." We have digressed from Adam's rib to woman's.

When I hold a little baby in my arms, it is hard for me to fathom how anyone could be so callous as to snuff the life out of that precious boy or girl for any reason other than that he or she would be an inconvenience to one's wicked lifestyle. What a frightening thought that those who are involved in this horrendous deed will one day stand before Jesus Christ and give account. "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment."(Hebrews 9:27 KJV 1911)

However, if those involved in any way with abortion will truly come to God in repentance and contrition, place his/her faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, God will forgive and save that soul for eternity. (Psalm 51:17; John 6:37) After all, Saul of Tarsus was complicit in the murder of many Christians. Yet God graciously saved him, changed his name to Paul, then used him to write nearly half of the New Testament. Praise the Lord!

In Gods service,

Preacher Daryl E. Sell
